5 Ways to Prepare For Your Business’s Brand Photo Mini Session

As a Photographer for Business Owners, I understand the absolute importance + value of having a large quantity of quality imagery for your brand.

My process allows me to dive deep enough into your unique business’s brand and see all the various imagery you could utilize to grow your business (and make more money!)

Because I know how valuable branding photography is, I only offer mini sessions one time each year, typically in January or February.

Mini sessions are all in ONE day, back-to-back, and in studio (though I am going back-and-forth about adding an outdoor day?!). They are just as the title implies: MINI.

Less imagery, less 1:1 prep, email-coaching (as opposed to calls booked), less outfits, and less time. BUT!

If you’ve never ever done a brand photoshoot before, these are the perfect way to dip your toes into the (warm + welcoming) water.

You can still very much get a solid handful of diverse imagery to use over and over again for your business marketing. You can grow your brand with these . You can optimize 10-20 brand photos in ways you likely don’t realize (but my email support will guide you!).

If you’ve had a Premium Branding Package + Photoshoot recently, a mini brand photoshoot is a perfect way to add a handful of refreshed imagery to your pocket!

With that said, because there is far less 1:1 time with Clients to prepare for your brand session, I wanted to share a few mini session preparation tips YOU can do to make the absolute MOST out of your time.

Mini Session Prep Tips:

  1. Make a collage of 10 to images you would LOVE to have for your business/brand

  2. Look through photos of you you’ve had done in the past — whether this is family photos, senior photos, iPhone photos, it doesn’t matter. What do you like about yourself in them? What clothes are you wearing? What parts of yourself maybe make you cringe? What about a photo of you leads you to NOT use it? Take notes about these things, throw it onto the collage of imagery inspo you made.

  3. Who do you WANT to be? If you’ve never had a brand session done before, think through who you admire in your industry and why. What about their imagery and/or content do you like? Why is it different than you? Are there pieces of them that feel true to you, but you’re afraid people might think “Who do you think you are?”

  4. Write out some key words you’d like your brand (aka the business YOU offer in YOUR unique way) to feel like for other people. How do you hope people talk about your brand? How do you imagine your brand helping others?

  5. Think through: do you want images with a solid, plain backdrop? Do you need images of you to create graphics + headers, maybe pointing or looking at “something” you can add in on the back end? Do you have a product you can bring to get a photo of you using it or holding it out? What things are you often talking about, and wish you had a photo to go along with it? Make a list.

Now put that little note list together + send it to me via email for your mini session, so we can be alllll the more on the same page :) I do this type of thing (but waaaay more in depth, and I lead you through it 1:1) for Premium Branding Packages. I wanted to give you a taste of what it means to dive a bit deeper into prep + delivery of a premium session.
