My Top 5 Outfit Looks for Next-Level Personal Brand Photoshoots
I’m all about empowering you to step into who you’re becoming, especially through a business branding photoshoot.
A huge part of showing the world who you are, what your brand’s energy is, is through what you decide to wear in your brand photos.
Nearly every client poses the somewhat panicked question: “But what do I wear!?”
I am not someone you’ll hear say, “You’ve gotta go purchase a whole new wardrobe for this!” No way.
But you can be strategic about your looks, you can add a few pieces you’ve been itching to add, AND if you really want a statement piece that fits the energy of who you’re working to be & what you’re offering the world, you can RENT pieces. Sometimes this can be tax-deductible!
That said, here are 5 of my favorite looks for next level branding photoshoots:
The Every Day Look
Do not skip this one, and don’t underestimate it either. Especially for my full day branding packages, think through a casual, but still next-level, outfit.
Depending on who you are & what you’re wanting to put out in the world, this might be yoga pants & a graphic statement t-shirt. Maybe it’s jeans + basic white tee.
Maybe you add some new white (clean!) sneakers + a bomber jacket, or you throw on a blazer & heels.
This look is perfect for shots of you behind the scenes, working (or scrolling!) on your phone, pouring yourself a cup of coffee, chillin on the couch journaling.
Dressy/Formal
A little dressy attire is the perfect look for your headshots and the professional poses we want to capture.
This balances super well with your every day/casual look to really capture all sides of your business.
Think about what you might wear to an interview, a conference, a special event - grab something similar to have a dressy outfit option available. It doesn’t have to be a fancy dress or suit, but something a bit more formal than your every day look.
Business Attire / Niche Specific
In your industry is it standard to wear scrubs? A white lab coat? Business suit? A tie? Slacks and a button down or blouse? Exercise clothes?
If you are a doctor or nurse who does not typically wear scrubs or a white lab coat to work, I recommend thinking through the symbolism of those uniforms. If it is not authentic for you to wear them in a multitude of images, it may be still worth it to get a few in-action shots or headshots of you.
If you’re an insurance agent or financial advisor, etc, who often wears a business suit or slacks, I definitely recommend bringing and wearing the fit you feel your best in. Wearing a power suit showcases the energy of your brand and what you offer your clients, outside of the service itself: professionalism, expertise, authority in your industry.
If you’re a fitness coach, wearing your best matching workout clothes is your uniform!
Think about what might fit within your industry or help people recognize your niche when they see this outfit.
Fun, Flashy, maybe even Flirty 😏
This is your brand photoshoot, isn’t it?! This is the perfect time to add a little flare and have some fun.
Consider a fun or flashy shirt that’s been waiting to be worn again. Or maybe some bright and bold accessories (shoes, necklaces, etc.). Or a pattern that really represents your brand or style.
This outfit doesn’t have to be worn for a whole section of your session; even just having a few photos in it to utilize for those special occassions is worth it.
Let your personality shine through this so we can really capture YOU!
Something Seasonal
Depending when your session is, adding in some clothing items to make your items more seasonal is something to definitely think about!
Why? Because it allows you to help an outfit go further and to make your brand session gallery work year-round.
Maybe this means wearing a bright summery top for a bit but then adding a jacket over top for some poses. Or wearing a casual tank top for spring vibes but then adding a fall cardigan over top to cozy it up.
Planning to represent different seasons helps make your gallery more versatile. Outfit layers can often help accomplish this!
It can be challenging to know what to wear for your session but focusing on outfits that really fit you is the best place to start. And hopefully this post gives you a few more ideas to add in after that!
