What kind of photos should I pick from my Business Brand MINI Session?

I’m a Business Branding Photographer and I only offer Mini Sessions once a year. If you’re curious why I offer these only one time a year, I’m sharing that at the bottom.

Most photographers mini sessions come with a set amount of images, with more available for purchase.

If you’ve never quite understood why or how you could use a FULL gallery of branding photos, participating in a Mini Session is a great way to dip your toes in.

If you’ve had a full branding Photoshoot recently and want a handful of updated photos, this is also a smart investment.

If you know you want to stand out in your industry, but feel guilty investing in a full branding package, this is also a great way to begin seeing how professional imagery used well can really grow your digital position.

My Brand Mini Sessions are hosted every Jan or Feb.

The package typically looks like this:

  • Branding Prep & Prop Guide

  • Style / Wardrobe Tips

  • In Studio

  • One outfit

  • 20 minutes

  • 10 images of choice

  • Additional images available for purchase (individually at $20/image or a flat rate for the full gallery)

Clients receive a gallery of 20-30 images to choose from and/or upgrade.

So HOW do you pick the 10 images?

What kind of photos should I pick from my Business Brand MINI Session?

What should entrepreneurs who are new to investing in Branding Photos think about, before choosing their photos?

This list is actually a great place to start *before* your session too, helping you think through what kind of images might make sense!

10 different ways to use different types of Brand Photos, with examples:

  1. Modern Headshot: your face is centered, typically smiling authentically, top half of your body. Focus is your head.

Use: Profile photos on LinkedIn, email avatars/icons, all social media profiles

2. Mid-length portrait, smiling, possibly doing something BTS.

Use: are really connective for the front page of your website and your contact page.

3. Up-close of your hands holding a tool of your trade.

Use: services and FAQ page on your website.

4. A different Up-close photo of your hands holding/using a tool of your trade.

Use: CONTENT sharing about your service/product, on a blog post, in an email, for social media posts.

5. Sitting at a desk, on the couch, or leaning against a wall/window, *holding* your cell phone or computer.

Use: put this on your Contact page!

6. Personality shot: this can look a million different ways, look through the images below. But in essence, it’s a photo capturing the essence of your personality, your vibe, your passion.

Use: About page on your website.

7. A different Personality shot.

Use: content sharing about you on socials, blog posts, emails. Whether it’s a post about your fav drink, meditating with incense, holding up a magnifying glass…connect with your people. Share your personality, and share it often.

8. A flat lay / personal brand stock photo of your tools. Whether this is desk items, products you use, products you recommend, products you offer, journal, pen, cards, stethoscopes, books, crystals, ETC.

Use: services page of your website, blog posts on your website, emails.

9. Another photo of you doing your thing or holding your tools, but include your face in the image, looking at the camera.

Use: these are great for ads! Whether in magazines, Facebook, Instagram, or otherwise, showcasing your face doing the THING, connecting your name + face with your service.

10. A variety of these images.

Use: printed materials like brochures or mailers, even free guides you might make for your email community.

Imagery can be a powerful tool to bring your words, invitations, offers, passion about your services, the actual services to LIFE.

People are visual + connective; thinking through the various ways you can bring easy & natural connectivity to your online presence is going to brand your business in a trustworthy way.

Look at your photos: what emotions are coming through, what do you want people to feel when they see your beautiful self looking back at them? Confidence? Gentleness? Adventure? Sexy? Fierce? Healing? Self love? Joy? Wisdom? Safety?

Do you have any launches coming up?

Write down a few pieces of content & areas you know immediately would benefit from updated Brand Photos.

I offer Brand Mini Sessions only one time a year because they are significantly reduced rates & it is simply not feasible for me to offer them more than once.

Doing these back to back —this years goal is to book 13 Brand Mini Sessions and 8 headshot sessions— balances out the low rate offered.

IG post: Headshot versus Branding

I also firmly believe that every business & entrepreneur needs a full branding session at bare minimum every other year.
