How To Plan The Perfect Brand Photoshoot

You’ve decided it’s time to hire an expert, professional branding photographer! Yay! You are making an incredibly investment in your business, one that will not return void.

Planning the perfect brand photoshoot requires time, intention, and specific planning. I really only know how to teach from experience + my own knowledge of what has worked, so here is how I plan perfect brand sessions:

Step One: Client books a free 30 minute consult.

During this call we talk about: your business, when it began, your industry, is it primarily offline/online? How have you, so far, navigated the world of online marketing? Do you have a content strategy + plan? What is your confidence level, 0-10, navigating the online space for your business?

If you aren’t sure you fully understand branding photos, I explain further.

We then talk the core of my offer: preparedness, confidence, safety, clarity, and more confidence, and of course: BRANDING PHOTOS.

We decide if we are a good fit/match to work together!

If you decide to move forward, either on the call or through a follow up email, you will receive:

Step Two: Contract, Invoice for deposit — You Are Booked!

Our photoshoot date is set. I send you the another email with a link to my calendar to book our planning session!

Step Three: Planning Session

This is one of the most important steps of making sure your brand session is planned to its best potential. Before we hop on our call —which is typically 2-3 weeks before your photoshoot date— I send you my in depth branding questionnaire. If you’re able to fill this form out prior to our call, great! If you have ADHD like me and struggle with things like this, I will fill it out with you during our call.

During this call we dive into: your brand’s core values; what got you into this business/industry; who do you admire in your industry + why; brand color palette; website info; who is your ideal client; plan out imagery that will speak to them; do we need models; talk about any upcoming launches or themes for your business/quarter; wardrobe; venue; what feeeeeling + experience do you want your clients/customers to have when they work with you? Interact with you?

The most important piece to planning the perfect brand session is…to plan it :)

You leave our planning session feeling confident + prepared for our photoshoot.

Step Four: Prep Time

I send you an email with a list of tools, props, wardrobes we talked about + planned for. If you requested I do a model call (I have a phenomenal list of models to call, btw!), I will send you an invoice for the additional fee and I will book your models. I find + book the venue we picked. I send you my Branding Prep Guide as well, which gives a few additional tips + wardrobe suggestions. Again, the process is meant to bring a ton of confidence + preparedness into this session.

Step Five: PHOTOSHOOT DAY

This is where we get to the fun! It is a lot of high energy, fun, laughing, fierceness, dancing, all the things. I create an incredibly safe space for you to show up exactly as you are. I have a wagon we can load all of your wardrobes + props into so you don’t have to sweat heading up to the studio or into the house, or take a million trips. I bring waters, maybe some snacks depending on how long our shoot is (half day or full day). We get the job done and you leave feeling PUMPED UP, like we just executed the world’s best photoshoot (because we did), and it was a big day of organized chaos. We did it!

Step Six: Post-Shoot Strategy Session

What good is all this perfect planning, confidence + felt safety, and tonssss of amazing images if you don’t put action to using it all? After you receive your gallery of 100+ diverse images, we schedule one more call: your strategy session. This session is designed to give you clarity (and confidence) on how to use your photos. We make yet another plan and it is up to you to execute that one! But you know I’m always here for you, rooting for you, and will check in :)
