That said, wherever you are in the world, choosing a Professional Branding Photographer can be tricky because there are not as many Brand Photographers as there are Family or Wedding Photographers.

19 Must Ask Questions Before Hiring A Photographer For Your Business or Company — Your Personal Brand Photographer:

  1. Do you host a planning meeting? What happens during this planning meeting? Am I asking you questions during this meeting or are you asking me questions? Do we talk about my ideal client, my brand, my vision, my goals?

  2. Do you retouch the skin in addition to the edit?

  3. Can you tell me a bit about your style? Both shooting and also editing. Do you shift your editing style at all per request?

  4. What is your method for securing a location? Do you find the location(s) or do I? Are these venues/locations additional or included in the package fee? Do you have spaces you like to use and recommend?

  5. If we are shooting outside, what is your inclement weather policy? For outdoor sessions it's important to have a back-up plan for wild whether the day of your shoot. Ask about reschedule policy.

  6. Can I see some of your in-office images for other doctors/aestheticians/companies? How do you manage + handle low-light or yellow-light?

  7. How do you lead your clients through poses or specific shots?

  8. How do you ensure I look + feel my best day-of photoshoot? Do you offer hair and makeup services or wardrobe coordinating options? Do you have hair + MU artists you recommend, or is this an add-on I can choose?

  9. How are your images delivered? Is there a certain amount of time they are available?

  10. What is the turn around time from photoshoot session to gallery in my email? This is important to know, especially if you have a launch coming up or need one of your images soon — let your photographer know if this is the case, and maybe they can send you some sneak peeks if their turn around time is longer than you were hoping.

  11. What is the general amount of images per package, and are the images all included? Or do we pay for additional images after a certain point? How much per image?

  12. How can you help me optimize my images?

  13. How many wardrobe/outfit changes is recommended or included in this package?

  14. Do you have a reschedule fee or policy?

  15. Do you offer additional, intensive + retouching services? (In addition to your typical/base edit)

  16. Is the deposit transferrable or refundable?

  17. How will you customize your photography to serve my brand? How do you capture images that are brand specific? Can you tailor your editing style to fit my brand aesthetic or do you have one set style you apply to every session?

  18. Do you have props I can use for this session? If so, what? Will you send me a list of props I am supposed to bring? (20 Prop Suggestions)

  19. What are the usage rights / licensing for these images?
